Power In Numbers
There are over 4,000 units of cooperative housing in the District of Columbia. While
some have been very successful, others have faced challenges. ULS Homeworks believes
that bringing co-ops together, combining efforts and pooling resources can help
bridge the gap. By combining their political power and collective bargaining strength,
cooperatives and their members can make vast improvements to their communities and
homes.
In support of this initiative, ULS Homeworks and NCB Capital Impact have partnered
to facilitate a Co-op Leadership Forum. For two years now, the Leadership Forum
has been a place where leaders of the co-op community can meet, plan and collaborate.
The forum gives cooperative leaders a place to voice their problems and concerns,
share their opinions and together come up with solutions. It also allows leaders
to receive some direct guidance from housing professionals in the area.
